What should be done to develop local chicken breeding
In order to develop local chicken breeding, Hubei livestock and poultry manufacturers should focus on the following work:
1. Choose the right site
Local chicken breeding should be carried out in places with leeward and sunny, flat terrain, high and dry, convenient water intake, away from villages, convenient transportation, small canopy and sparse fruit trees. It is strictly forbidden to spread chicken farms along the river, and the distance between farms shall not be less than 200 meters. Take advantage of the natural barrier in the mountain area and promote one hill and one field.
2. Site disinfection
In the new site, the nursery will use 5-10% lime water or 1:600 hundred poison, 1:1200 disinfectant, 2% caustic soda, etc. for spray disinfection of the site; In the old site, the ground shall be cleaned and washed. On the basis of the above methods, use potassium permanganate 14g/m2, add formaldehyde 28ml/m2 to fumigate and disinfect for 1-2 days (put the water dispenser, material bucket and other appliances together for disinfection), and then open the ventilation for 1-2 days.
3. Temperature requirements
Temperature is the key to the success of brooding. Before entering the chicken, the temperature should be adjusted half a day earlier. Generally, the temperature of the brooding house should be controlled at 32-33 ℃ at 0-1 week old, and then it should be reduced by 1-2 ℃ every week, until it is 4 weeks old. There are two ways to observe whether the temperature is suitable: one is to look at the thermometer, and the other is to look at the condition of the chickens. When chickens flock together, close to the heat source and keep singing, the temperature is low; When the chickens are far away from the heat source, distributed around and keep breathing, it indicates that the temperature is on the high side; When the chickens are evenly distributed, moving freely and relatively quiet, the temperature is more appropriate.
4. Select good chicken seedlings
The quality of chicken seedlings plays a decisive role in the success of chicken breeding. At present, small and medium-sized delayed chickens, such as Jiangcun Yellow, Sanhuang, Guangxi Ma, Zhejiang Dahuang, Gushi, Xianju and Fujian Green, are more suitable for outdoor breeding in our city because of their low environmental requirements, wide adaptability, strong disease resistance, large activity and superior meat quality.
We should choose chicken seedlings with pure varieties and strong physique. Generally, a good chick is one with lively flocks, strong calls, large chicks' heads, protruding eyes, vigorous struggles, clean body, uniform individuals and consistent coat color.
5. Boil water as soon as possible
The chicks drink boiled water for the first time. When the chicks arrive, send them to the brooding room as soon as possible (especially necessary in winter) and let them drink freely. For chicks that have been transported over long distances or in hot weather, 0.9% glucose physiological saline and quick supplement should be added to the drinking water; Add 0.01-0.02% potassium permanganate to the drinking water in close range. The water should be boiled early, and more than 80% of the chicks should drink a mouthful of water at the same time; For those who are slow and squatting, they should be trained manually, or the clapping sound should stimulate and promote drinking water. Water should be supplied 24 hours a day.
6. Timely material opening
The first feeding of chicks is the opening. The opening time should be appropriately postponed, and the appropriate time should be 24-36 hours after the chicken is hatched. It can also be determined according to the health status of chicks and the external temperature. Generally, 85% of chicks have appetite. If the feed is opened too early, it is easy to cause the poor absorption of egg yolk of the chicks and become stiff chickens, which will lead to the disadvantages of low brooding rate and poor uniformity. It is recommended to select the formula feed with small particle size and easy digestion. Feed should be spread on nylon cloth or pan to make it easy for chicks to eat. It should be added as little as possible to stimulate chicks' appetite and reduce feed waste.
